STANFORD RESPRESENT ON TEAM USA

Stanford Players Successful at National Team Tryouts

Congratulations to the following athletes and coaches for their success at the various U.S. Cadet, Youth and Junior Team tryouts. Our club is honored to have the most total athletes (seven) selected to the training squads. No other club in the U.S. can match that success.

On the Cadet level (born '91-'92) - Congratulations to Alex Kaufman and Head Coach Travis Wyckoff for leading the Pacific Zone team to the first ever National Cadet Team Championship.

At the Youth level ('89-'90) - Tanya Wilcox, Megan Burmeister, Elise Ponce and Kim Krueger were chosen as members of the Youth team training squad. Pallavi Menon and Cassie Wyckoff were also members of the Pacific Zone Youth Team which finished fourth at the National Zone Championships. In July the Youth team will select the final members to represent the U.S. at the Junior Pan American Games in August. Coach Bekki Lyon, who has moved to the Seattle area, will be an assistant coach at the Junior Pan Ams.

Junior National Team ('87 & '88) - This is the first time that we've had three club players competing for one of the final 14 roster positions. It is a huge accomplishment to have one, yet we have three, congrats. This year Kelly Eaton, Phoebe Champion and Amanda Tipton are vying for a spot on the Junior National team that travels to Italy and Greece in July. Kyle Utsumi is the Junior National team coach once again after leading Team USA to a Junior World Championship in 2005. Former club players Laurel Champion and Julie Gardner competed for the Junior Team at the Junior World Championships in '03 and '01 respectively.
